How to start your own distillery

How to start your own distillery

Once upon a time, all distilleries were small.
Whether they made whisky or gin, the two spirits traditionally distilled in the UK, the scale of these historic operations was modest, in many cases domestic.  Distilling was carried out at home as a means of preserving fruit, preparing simple medicines and, of course, supplying alcohol for drinking.

One down, One to go

October 31st, 2008 | Nathan Brown

The Lodger shop opened right on time.  The Lodger website is going to be a few hours later than expected.  We'll still get it live today (I'm told) but we are a few hours off the midnight go live.

Please check back again soon.

Open for Business

October 31st, 2008 | Nathan Brown

We have officially launched.  The Lodger shop opened its doors for the first time yesterday at 10am sharp.  Last minute furniture deliveries aside things went rather smoothly.

If you find yourself in London in general or Mayfair in particular, please come in for a visit.  We'd love to chat with you about our shoes.

How To Wear It

October 29th, 2008 | Nathan Brown

At Lodger, we like to make shoes for the way a modern man dresses.  And if there is one thing that we appreciate in our wardrobe, it's flexibility.

On our new website (launching 31st October) each shoe has a section called "How To Wear It".  The idea is to style the shoe with a different look to give people an idea of how it could be worn.  Must of us know how to put a pair of shoes together with denim or a suit, so we've tried to push the bar a little.  But not too far.  Lodger isn't a fashion brand.  We just make nice shoes.

Here is a preview of some of the shots coming on Friday.  Hope you like them.

What a difference a day makes

October 27th, 2008 | Nathan Brown

These photos are now 72 hours prior to launch.  Amazing what can be done in 24 hours.  It's almost starting to feel like a shoe shop.  Except for the lack of shoes.

It's still a race to Thursday, but now it feels like we've got a real shot.

Not enough nails. . .

October 26th, 2008 | Nathan Brown

. . . to bite.

We move into the Lodger shop in 12 hours and open in 84 hours.  This is the Lodger shop 12 hours ago.  96 hours before the grand opening.  Most of the big stuff is in, but it's going to be a race to the finish.

Wagers anyone?
